Bio:
Eric Buchanan is a prominent advocate representing disabled individuals and policyholders nationwide in ERISA and non-ERISA disputes, specializing in disability, life, and health insurance. With a Martindale-Hubbell “AV” peer-review rating since 2007, Eric is recognized for his expertise in insurance law. As a dedicated professional, he is committed to educating fellow attorneys on ERISA, disability law, social security law, and related insurance matters.
Background:
A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Washington and Lee University School of Law, Eric ranked in the top 10% of his class. Before pursuing law, he graduated from the Virginia Military Institute and served as a U.S. Navy officer from 1989 to 1994. His naval career included roles as a naval aviator, pilot-in-command, and mission commander of P-3C Orion sub-hunting aircraft. Notably, Eric served as his squadron’s legal officer, earning a Navy Achievement Medal.

Eric is a distinguished speaker, having presented at national conferences such as the American Association for Justice (AAJ), National Organization of Social Security Representatives (NOSSCR) National Disability Conference, AAJ Social Security Disability Conference, and the American Conference Institute (ACI) annual disability insurance seminar. He held leadership positions as the chair of the AAJ Social Security Disability Section and the AAJ ERISA Health and Disability Litigation Group. Eric’s contributions extend to chairing the Tennessee Bar Association Disability Section and serving as president of the Chattanooga Trial Lawyers.
